Whether we're looking for something to keep the little ones occupied during all the cooking or want to deck out our home with homemade holiday decorations, we've got you covered with this ultimate guide to Thanksgiving craft ideas.

Thanksgiving Craft Ideas - The Ultimate Guide

Some of our favorite kid-friendly Thanksgiving craft ideas include:

Making Thankful Cards:

Have the child write or draw something they're thankful for on each card. We can also have them decorate the cards with stickers, stamps, or other embellishments.

Creating A Turkey Out Of Handprints:

This is a fun project for younger kids. Have them dip their hands in paint and press them onto construction paper to create the turkey's body and feathers. Add googly eyes, a beak, and a wattle for extra cuteness.

Decorating Pumpkins:

This is a classic fall craft that kids always enjoy. Whether painting, carving, or adding glitter, decorating pumpkins is always a hit.

Making Leaf Prints:

Collect some leaves from outside and then use them to make prints on construction paper or canvas. We can also use leaves to create patterns or designs on our pumpkin or other fall crafts.

What Can Kids Do On Thanksgiving For Crafts?

Plenty of Thanksgiving craft ideas are perfect for kids of all ages. From simple projects like making thankful cards to more complex ones like creating a turkey out of handprints, there's sure to be something here that our child will love. And the best part is that these crafts can double as decorations or gifts for grandparents and relatives.

How To Make A Colorful Turkey Out Of Paper

Turkey crafts are fun and easy to get kids into the Thanksgiving spirit! And what could be more festive than a colorful paper turkey? Here's how to create a colorful paper turkey on our own.

Supplies Required:

  • White paper.

  • Watercolor.

  • Paintbrush.

  • Construction paper.

  • Googly eyes.

  • Cup of water.

  • Paper towels.

Steps:

STEP 1: Paint the white paper. We will use as many colors as we like! Once they're all dry, it's time to start assembling our turkey.

STEP 2: Take the brown construction paper and cut it into strips. These will be the turkey's feathers. Glue them onto the coffee filter, spreading them out evenly.

STEP 3: Now it's time for the head! Cut a small oval out of the orange construction paper, and glue it onto the top of the filter. Add two googly eyes, and our turkey is almost complete!

For the final touch, cut a wattle (that's the dangly bit under a turkey's chin) out of the red construction paper and glue it on.

There we have it: a beautiful paper turkey craft that kids of all ages will enjoy making!

How To Create Wooden Acorn Dolls?

Here's a step-by-step guide to creating wooden acorn dolls:

Supplies Required:

  • Wooden dolls.

  • Acorn caps.

  • Colors.

  • Paintbrushes.

  • Fabric.

  • Button.

  • Sketch pens.

Steps:

STEP 1: The first step is to paint the wooden dolls. We can use any color or design we like. Once the paint is dry, glue the acorn caps onto the dolls to create the heads.

STEP 2: Next, we will use the fabric to create clothing for the dolls. We can cut out simple shapes and glue or sew them onto the dolls. Also, glue a button for each doll's nose and make their eyes and lips.

STEP 3: To add a final touch, put the acorn caps over the head of the dolls.

Our wooden acorn dolls are now complete!

How To Create A Thanksgiving Pie Garland?

One fun and festive project is to create a Thanksgiving pie garland. This garland is made of small paper pies, and it's a great way to use scraps of paper or fabric. Here's how to create a Thanksgiving pie garland:

Supplies Required:

  • Small paper or fabric pies.

  • Twine.

  • Scissors.

  • Hot glue gun.

  • Decorative beads (optional).

Steps:

STEP 1: First, we will print out or create our templates for small paper pies.

STEP 2: Next, cut out the pies from paper or fabric. Using fabric, we may want to interface the backings to make them sturdier.

STEP 3: Once all the pies are cut out, hot glue a loop of twine to the back of each one. Leave enough space between each pie so that it can dangle freely.

STEP 4: When all the pies are attached, carefully thread them onto a long piece of twine or rope. Hang the garland up and enjoy!
